DON’T PANIC Towel – worldwide

The DON’T PANIC Towel Shop sells just one product, a towel as a tribute to the author Douglas Adams and his ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’.

Why?
Towel – Just about the most massively useful thing any interstellar Hitchhiker can carry. (Douglas Adams, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, chapter 3)

While shipping worldwide, the target was to sell and ship DON’T PANIC towels to at least 42 countries around the world. End of 2013 I am happy to announce that a towel is on the way to Israel, which is already the country no. 47. Time to get an overview:

The red color indicates the countries where as minimum one DON’T PANIC towel has been sent. A lot of countries received dozens. And I am still busy to get one to the galaxy.

The countries in alphabetical order:
Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey, USA

But there are still some grey spots on the map. Especially in Africa and in the Middle East. And they definitely need some DON’T PANIC towels in Syria, Iran and Iraq. So, the project goes on…

Gurlitt öffnet den Blick nach Berlin-Kreuzberg

Mit dem Kunstfund in München und der damit verbundenen Abwicklung der aussortierten Entarteten Kunst im 3. Reich kommt auch der der Berliner Stadtraum wieder in den Fokus. Neben den Fotos der eigentlichen Werke wird immer wieder das Foto gezeigt wie Adolf Hitler in Berlin die Werke begutachtet.

Ein Ort der in den letzten Jahren unter dem Marketing Konzept ‚Mediaspree’ zu neuem Glanz vermarktet werden sollte. Ein Ort der aber auch der für den alten Grenzverlauf mitten in Berlin steht und für die temporäre Lagerung von ca. 17000 Kunstwerken, von denen ein Großteil kurze Zeit später vernichtet wurde.

Mit dem Projekt BARLACHS SCHWEBENDER GOTTVATER habe ich im Jahr 2009 für sechs Monate vor Ort auf die Geschehnisse im ehem. Viktoria-Speicher in Berlin-Kreuzberg aufmerksam gemacht. Sichtbar am Ufer, präsent für den Tourismus, Investoren und von der Strandbar gegenüber. Nun ist der Ort wieder in seinen Dornröschenschlaf versunken – schade.
