Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy on air, again.

Radio 4 Extra celebrates the 36th anniversary of Douglas Adams’s cult science fiction comedy.

The global multi-media success story that is “Hitchhiker’s” started life as a Radio 4 series in March 1978. The original scripts by the late Douglas Adams then went on to spawn a series of novels, a feature film, at least three stage shows, a TV series, a computer game, a collection of comic books – and a towel.

The first chapter:
(1/6) Arthur Dent is trying to stop his house being demolished. But what about Planet Earth?

Brodcasts:
Sat 8 Mar 2014, 19:00 on BBC Radio 4 Extra and again 4 hours later in the night from Sat – Sun 9 Mar 2014 at 01:00
The following chapters will be broadcasted on the upcoming five saturdays. On the website of the h2g2 radio show you will find some extras, like clips, maps and galleries.

DON’T PANIC Towel – worldwide

The DON’T PANIC Towel Shop sells just one product, a towel as a tribute to the author Douglas Adams and his ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’.

Why?
Towel – Just about the most massively useful thing any interstellar Hitchhiker can carry. (Douglas Adams, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, chapter 3)

While shipping worldwide, the target was to sell and ship DON’T PANIC towels to at least 42 countries around the world. End of 2013 I am happy to announce that a towel is on the way to Israel, which is already the country no. 47. Time to get an overview:

The red color indicates the countries where as minimum one DON’T PANIC towel has been sent. A lot of countries received dozens. And I am still busy to get one to the galaxy.

The countries in alphabetical order:
Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey, USA

But there are still some grey spots on the map. Especially in Africa and in the Middle East. And they definitely need some DON’T PANIC towels in Syria, Iran and Iraq. So, the project goes on…
