If I knew…

‘If I Knew The World Ended Tomorrow, I’d Still Plant An Apple Tree Today.‘ is a mural inspired by the quote by Martin Luther. Painted by Hera and Akut, known as the artist duo herakut. The painting illustrates the quote and includes 20 translations of it. Of course, also the original in German: ‘Wenn ich wüsste, dass morgen die Welt unterginge, dann würde ich heute noch ein Apfelbäumchen pflanzen‘.

Totem by JBAK

A new painting covers the facade of a tall apartment building in the district Lichtenberg.

JBAK is a partnership between the artists James Bullough and Addison Karl. Bullough is focused on photorealism, combining contemporary street art techniques and the classical style of realist oil painters. Addison is responsible for the hatch drawing style, fantastic thin lines to get awesome illustrations. Together, they created a distinctive style which is asking for large walls, like the Totem mural.
The mural was made possible by HOWOGE (housing association) and is part of their initiative LOA Berlin (Lichtenberg Open Art).

Street Art Istanbul

The street art scene in Istanbul is fascinating. You will find a lot of stuff around the popular and touristic places of the district Beyoğlu and around the Galata Tower. You will find works by C215, Evol, Pixel Pancho and of a lot of locals.
JR was recently in town for pastings of his series ‘Wrinkles of the City. For some of his pieces you will get the best point of view from the ferry boat on the way to Eyüp.
On the asian part of Istanbul you will find especially some great wall paintings which were done for the ‘Mural Istanbul Festival’ in 2014. One example, is the work ‘Ufo Attack’ by Sepex and M-City.
